• If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you live in Central, Southern or Eastern Oregon.
• If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow and ice, you live in Oregon.
• If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction, you live in Oregon.
• If you feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash, you live in Oregon.
• If you know more than 10 ways to order coffee, you live in Oregon.

Rowdy Fans

Have you been to a Portland Timbers game yet?  If not, you are missing out!  These things are rowdy.  The fans are relentless and the soccer is classy.  In a word?  FUN.  In another word?  CHAOS!  Good chaos, however.  I have been to 2 games now and both of them have been so much fun I can’t wait to get back.  First, you’ve got the Timbers Army, who sits behind the North Goal.  Well, they don’t sit.  They stand and sing and dance and yell and scream – THE ENTIRE GAME.  They never stop!  It is unreal how in tune they are with each other.  It is choreographed and synchronized.  It is intimidating and almost annoying to the other teams.  It is impressive.  Second, you have a very unique and creative stadium.  It is built to be loud and to be unique, and it is both.  Lastly, you have good soccer.  This team is putting forth some effort to be recognized.  They won their first 5 home games (this is their first year in existence!), and just recently beat the LA Galaxy, who had a 14 game unbeaten streak going and host players such as David Beckham (so hot right now!) and Landon Donovan, the US Team’s captain.  Impressive, to say the least.

So what am I saying?  Go as soon as you can.  You will not regret it!  Until next time, goooooaaaaalllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two words: Ned Ludd.  Doesn’t mean much, does it?  Well this is one NE Restaurant that you need to check out.  This writer went with zero expectations and came away with rave reviews.  For starters:  everything they do is wood fired.  Bread (so good), appetizers, pizza (duh), and even the Trout, which I had.  From our salad (salat) to the wood-fired bread to the Trout (with the head still on it), everything we had was great.  Local Tip: Small inside, Large outside.  Feel free to take advnatage of either!  But be sure to make a reservation, it is wildly popular!
